Dedicated Swanage Railway volunteers are to stage a nostalgic fundraising steam rally this weekend – bringing the Isle of Purbeck to life with evocative re-creations of a bygone age.
Railway fans have launched a £40,000 fundraising appeal to see a Victorian steam locomotive hauling passenger carriages for the first time in 75 years.
A Swanage Railway volunteer who travelled on the last British Rail train from Swanage to Wareham as a child in 1972 will be the conductor driver on the first Swanage Railway passenger train into Wareham using the heritage line’s 1950s diesel train.
Postal strikes planned with the Royal Mail on Friday, September 30 and Saturday, October 1. With this in mind would you please allow extra days for delivery of your favourite magazine.
