COMPLETING its pre-Christmas run on December 12 with a trip to Canterbury, The A1 Steam Locomotive Trust’s new spring programme opens with either a visit to RAF Cosford and its vast aircraft museum, the Blists Hill Museum, Telford, or to Shrewsbury, behind 4-6-2 No. 60163 Tornado, working the ‘Red Rose’ from Victoria on February 11, calling at Watford Junction and Milton Keynes en route.
On Wednesday. March 1, the Peppercorn A1 heads to Cardiff on St David’s Day with ‘The St David’ from Paddington, picking up at Slough, Reading and Swindon, then running on via Bristol Parkway and the Severn Tunnel.
On April 29, Tornado hauls the ‘North Briton’ from Doncaster to Carlisle via the hopefully reopened Settle and Carlisle line, and on to Newcastle, the train starting from Leicester.

This will be the first time that the A1 Trust has started a tour from Leicester.
On May 1, ‘The Heart of Midlothian’ heads out of Peterborough for Edinburgh, making several passenger stops on the way – Newark Northgate, Doncaster, York and Darlington.
