THE Severn Valley Railway’s September 22-26 Pacific Power event featuring the ‘Clash of the Titans’ – Flying Scotsman and new-build Peppercorn A1 Pacific No. 60163 Tornado – is on course to being a complete sell-out – paving the way for the event to be the most successful in the line’s 51-year history.
As we closed for press nearly six weeks before the star event, tickets on all services to be hauled by Flying Scotsman – the most famous locomotive of the 20th century – and Tornado – a candidate for its 21st-century equivalent – had been sold. Around 7000 seats on trains to be hauled by the A3 had been sold, and 4000 behind Tornado.
A few extra tickets which became available due to the reallocation of some pre-booked seats on selected trains went on sale at 9am on August 17 on a first-come-first-served basis.
