Work on the rest of the engine continues at Williton by 6695 Locomotive Group volunteers along with the ongoing assistance of West Somerset Restoration Ltd.
The group has set up a crowdfunding page in order to raise £50,000 to help raise funds for the overhaul – which has been estimated to cost £300,000, half of which will go towards the boiler.
Many parts need to be replaced, these include rivets and nuts (£3 each), screws and steel stays (£10 each), steel smoke tubes (£30 each), superheater flues (£200) and superheater elements (£1000).
Anyone wishing to support the overhaul is invited to visit www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/6695returntosteam restorationproject or email [email protected] for details of share applications and sponsorship of parts, donations or loans.
