Flowers and chocolates are classic Valentine’s gifts… but the East Lancashire Railway is offering an unforgettable treat to celebrate in 2024.
The ELR’s Valentine’s night luxury dining experience, Dining with Distinction, sees guests travel in a Pullman-style carriage, steam-hauled through the Irwell Valley, as they are attended by a personal waiter.
A welcome drink, accompanied by a live music reception as they board, is followed by a sumptuous four-course, silver-served meal during the journey.

The railway’s chairman, Mike Kelly, said: “The Dining with Distinction experience is one that every couple can enjoy. It’s great to see so many new memories being made, and couples celebrating the day with something uniquely different. Our volunteers work extremely hard to ensure that every couple has the Valentine’s Day of their dreams.”
Tickets are available for February 16/17, costing £79 per person. Boarding commences at 6.45pm and guests will return to Bury Bolton Street Station at about 10.15pm. There is a discounted offer on tables of four for £280. Book here.
