The Great Central Railway’s annual beer festival – featuring more than 100 beers and ciders to sample – takes place over four days this week, starting on Thursday (September 7).
The event is spread across: Loughborough Central Station (Thur noon-10pm, Fri/Sat 11am-11pm, Sun 11am-5pm); Quorn & Woodhouse Station (Thur noon-10pm, Fri/Sat 11am-11pm, Sun 11am-5pm); Rothley Station (Fri/Sat 11am-10pm, Sun 11am-5pm); and Leicester North Station (Fri 11am-6pm, Sat 11am-10pm, Sun 11am-5pm). Trains marked ‘A’ in the timetable will also carry a selection of beers and ciders.
Friday and Saturday see live music at Quorn and Woodhouse Station. Déjà vu plays from 8pm until late on Friday, and Saturday’s line-up features vocalist Sarah Clarke (1pm to 3.30pm), The Fentones (4pm to 6.30pm) and beer festival favourite Dr Busker (7.30pm to 11pm).

There are no trains on Thursday and Great Central is only open at Loughborough and Quorn & Woodhouse Station. Instead, a heritage bus will provide a free shuttle between Loughborough EMR Station, Loughborough Central and Quorn and Woodhouse Stations. On Friday and Saturday, a train service will be in operation each day with normal fares, plus a special £10 evening fare from 5.30pm for visitors to start their ale trail from any station and visit all four. On Sunday, a train service will be in operation all day, again with normal fares.
