Vintage vehicles including classic cars, buses, motorbikes, tractors, auto trucks and traction engines will be at the Watercress Line this month.
A special weekend of nostalgia is planned from Friday, May 20 to Sunday, May 22, with an impressive display of yesteryear vehicles appearing alongside the line’s heritage locomotives.
Vintage and retro cars, motorbikes, tractors and traction engines will be on show at Ropley Station. Vintage buses will stop at Alresford Station – with steam trains running along the Watercress Line’s famous 10-mile route to enable visitors to hop on and hop off to view everything on display. There will be a special evening train on Saturday May, 21. In addition, there will be full-sized and miniature traction engines and steam lorries on display from 10.30am to 5pm each day and steam crane demonstrations.

Refreshments will be available at Alresford’s West Country Buffet and Ropley’s T-Junction and Beer Junction, or bring a picnic and watch the world go by in the south-facing picnic area.
The Watercress Line’s acting managing director, Alison Houghton, said: “This special event is a great opportunity for visitors to get up close to some fantastic examples of different modes of transport from Britain’s industrial past.
“The nostalgia-packed weekend will send visitors back in time to an era when these vehicles helped to transport goods and people to the railways, and is sure to bring back memories for older generations. Don’t miss out – please book your tickets in advance.”
