Footage has emerged of an incident involving ‘A4’ No. 60009 Union of South Africa at East Lancashire Railway on December 22.
The video, posted on Youtube by Brad Hunt, shows the locomotive uncoupling from a ‘Santa Special’ at Bury Bolton Street station, ripping off the corridor connection between the Pacific’s tender and the lead carriage. It appears that the corridor connection had not been detached before the loco moved forward.
Nobody was hurt during the incident.
