More cash needed for trains to reach heart of Corwen

RAPID progress is being made on the Llangollen Railway’s new Corwen Central station – but more money is needed to complete the project.

As of the end of January, the island platform, now infilled around the western end, has the foundations and a base of beams and blocks completed, with the drainage pipework in place for a future waiting room and toilets, an essential requirement to allow for the eventual paving of the entire area.

The rest of the building will follow once the basic station has opened for passengers.

The foundations for the canopy columns are also being progressed, which have required the fitting of steel saddles on the top of the subway, with a specialist contractor on hand to drill the concrete.
Another expensive item to be progressed is the installation of a chairlift within the stairway.
