Bridgnorth’s £5million station upgrade gets the green light

THE Severn Valley Railway(SVR) is set to launch a share issue in the coming weeks to raise funds for its £5million redevelopment of Bridgnorth station – the most significant project in the railway’s 51-year history – after Shropshire County Council gave the project the green light.

The SVR’s Bridgnorth Development Project Team has been celebrating the decision after having spent years on extensive internal and external consultations, planning, surveys, assessments and research to compile the project application.

The three-phase project will dramatically improve facilities at both Bridgnorth and for visitors and provide a fitting gateway both to the heritage line and the town of Bridgnorth.

The railway has now begun a mammoth fundraising campaign in earnest to fulfil the plans of phase one and phase two.
