THE Ffestiniog & Welsh Highland Railways has confirmed it intends to repeat its series of heritage tours of the Welsh Highland Railway in 2019.
Marketed as Journey into the Past, and sponsored by the Welsh Highland Heritage Group, the special trains were trialled on Sundays in August.
Starting at Dinas, with a connection for the first train from Caernarfon, participants were greeted by their host for the day, before boarding their special train. Hauled by England 0-4-0STT No.2 Prince, the three heritage carriages departed along the original North Wales Narrow Gauge Railway trackbed.

The first stop was at Tryfan Junction, where the station building has been lovingly restored by WHHG volunteers.
Participants could see inside and learn more about the once-busy little quarry line, the Bryngwyn branch. Helped by a mug of station master’s tea or coffee, participants could also make use of some unusual photographic opportunities, including a run-past at Tryfan Junction.
