ONE of the Severn Valley Railway’s best-loved locomotives, GWR 4-6-0 No. 7819 Hinton Manor, has returned to the railway after more than 10 years on display in a shopping centre in Swindon.
The Designer Outlet Village is set in part of the former Swindon Locomotive Works, where No. 7819 was built almost 80 years ago at a cost of £4914.

The operation to remove the 68-ton locomotive included the removal of a large glass wall inside the shopping centre before it could move out of the building and be loaded on to the waiting low-loader for transport to Kidderminster, where it was unloaded in time for display in one of the bays there over the bank holiday weekend.
