Christine Pulham is a rarity – a female artist in a man’s world. For Chris is gaining a reputation as a painter of steam locomotives, and is hoping her skills will wow visitors to this year’s Railart exhibition being run at the Severn Valley Railway’s museum at Kidderminster.
The exhibition is held annually by the Guild of Railway Artists, of which Chris is an associate member, and she is hoping the panel selecting the works of art that will be exhibited will include her latest painting titled De-Light at Holbeck.
This painting depicts ‘Black Five’ No. 44824 at the Leeds depot, with Britannia No. 70001 Lord Hurcomb lurking in the shadows of the roundhouse in the murky condition that trainspotters of a certain age who regularly bunked the shed will recall with clarity.
