The nine-day railtour, promoted by the Railway Touring Company and operated by the West Coast Railway Company, featured seven steam engines, starting with No 71000 Duke of Gloucester from Paddington on 6 April, arriving at Thurso behind No 48151 on 12 April. Issue 98 of Heritage Railway includes a 20-page photo feature telling the story of this historic event.
