The Isle of Wight Steam Railway has launched a fundraising appeal to replace the tyres on its flagship steam locomotive W24 Calbourne.
Calbourne was constructed in 1891, and its steel tyres have worn down over the years meaning they now need to be replaced.
Fitting the tyres is a highly specialist and lengthy task.

The Isle of Wight Steam Railway has launched the urgent fundraising appeal in the hopes of getting Calbourne back in service as soon as possible.
The locomotive has been with the railway since 1967 and is popular with visitors.
Chairman Peter Taylor said: “We are urgently appealing for £36,000 to fund this project, ensuring our flagship locomotive, Calbourne, can return to service as soon as possible. Calbourne is our flagship locomotive that started the current railway. We’re keen to get her back into service pleasing our 130,000 visitors as quickly as we can.”
