Many people associate a train journey with their daily commute to work, very much a ‘grudge purchase’ and hardly a memorable experience. We’re here to show that, on board a private excursion train with like-minded travelling companions, things are very different. There really is a pleasurable side to rail travel and it’s here ready for you to enjoy to the full.
Great Days Out
Travel aboard our special train as we journey the length and breadth of the UK, visiting some of the finest destinations there are to experience. From the natural splendour of Lindisfarne to the seaside family fun of Whitby and Margate, and from the preserved majesty of preserved steam railways to the festive fun of Christmas markets, there’s something for everyone in our Great Days Out programme.
Off The Beaten Track
Our enthusiast-focused tours visit some of the least travelled non-passenger lines in the country, for those who like to say they’ve “done it”. Freight terminals, quarry lines, MOD facilities and branch lines that rarely see loco-hauled passenger trains – if it doesn’t see regular passenger service, there’s a good chance we’ll run on it. Often accompanied by locomotives rarely used for passenger services, Off The Beaten Track tours are the tours for the rail enthusiast.
Specials
UK Railtours are proud to continue our association with two of our favourite partners, offering traction and haulage at different ends of the spectrum. The Belmond British Pullman returns to our programme in 2024 offering the height of luxury on rails. And we’re pleased to announce that we will once again be running railtours with our good friends at Hastings Diesels Ltd and their magnificent DEMU. Subject to confirmation, we also hope to reintroduce an old favourite in 2024 – the 125 Specials are back!
