Accurascale has revealed first looks at samples for the upcoming and highly anticipated 16 ton mineral wagon range.
The latest addition to the scale model company’s “Powering Britain” range was announced in September – and modellers have been pre-ordering “by the bucket load” since, says Accurascale.
Now, Accurascale has taken delivery of the first decorated samples from the factory, and has shared photographs.

Despite some “niggles” still to be worked out, including paint coverage and colour matching, Accurascale is confident that all of these will be addressed in the refinement process in plenty of time for the intended release date in Q3 of 2024.
“The archetypal BR 16 ton all-steel non-hoppered mineral wagon proliferated across the United Kingdom’s railway network during the 1950s and 1960s and there was probably not a siding, freight yard or industrial railway system in the country that did not house at least an example or three of these vitally important, yet mundane railway vehicles,” reads Accurascale’s description.
20 different packs make up the first run, including general releases in BR livery, private owner sets reflecting later use in industrial railway settings and yet to be announced Accurascale Exclusive packs.
The wagons are priced at £74.95 per triple pack, with 10% of when buying two or more packs.
