The Severn Valley Railway unveiled its new £600,000 dedicated diesel maintenance depot on Friday, May 20.

Completed on schedule and to budget it gives the railway a state-of-the-art restoration and maintenance centre for its impressive modern traction fleet.
In his opening address at the launch ceremony SVR Holdings Company chairman, Nick Paul, said the diesel depot would be “the envy of the heritage railway movement, and some of the bigger main line companies too,” a sentiment echoed by GB Railfreight chairman, John Smith, who also unveiled the nameplates on one of his company’s new Class 66 diesel electrics, No. 66763.
