The Nene Valley Railway (NVR) has announced it is to re-open its refreshment kiosk at Overton station this coming weekend – Saturday and Sunday May 23/24. The intermediate station, which is located between Peterborough and Wansford, serves the popular Ferry Meadows country park. Trains services on the line remain suspended.
Run by Nene Park Trust, the park is a big draw for walkers and cyclists. It includes a plethora of opportunities to get up close to wildlife, including the many birds which frequent the surrounding woodland and river Nene. The park is also home to the separate 10¼in gauge Ferry Meadows Railway – which currently remains closed due to Covid-19.
